#12

when i was like 10, I was babysitting my little brothers and wanted to be extra helpful and surprise my mom when she got home.
I loaded all the dishes into the dishwasher and then searched under the sink for dish soap.
I remembered seeing commercials on TV for jet dry...
you know the liquid stuff you pour in the hole on the dishwasher door?
well i found some "jet dry" (only it was liquid dishwashing soap) and
poured as much as i could squeeze into that hole.
when my mom got home, not only was she surprised, she was also mad.
i had not been helpful at all.
there were *BUBBLES* spilling out of the dishwasher and all over the kitchen floor.
it was like a movie!
a horrible, disastrous movie.
it took a lot of dishwashing cycles to clear them all out.
and a lot of mopping.
and i may or may not have sucked a lot of the soap out of the hole with a straw...
being careful to stop sucking in time to not eat it.
my poor mother.
it seems i have a problem with washing dishes.  maybe i should be banned from doing them? good idea.

At least you have the excuse of being a child. My roomate did this very thing over the summer. Mopping and running the dishwasher FOREVER!!! We never let her live it down. And our DC kitchen being tiny, the soap literally covered the whole floor.

I used to do dumb things all the time when I was babysitting by siblings. One time I put way to much pancake batter into a pan and it got so big in the oven that it was almost touching the top. We were freaking out cuz we though it would overflow, but luckily it didn't. There is just something about parents being gone that makes everything overflow. :D

I'm glad you stopped sucking in time. Soap tastes NASTY! :D

I've never done that, but when I was younger I put too much laundry detergent in the washer and the bubbles almost came spilling out! I got lucky!

I helped out one time by "weeding" the front yard. Turns out they weren't weeds.

The innocence of children - we just want to help our parents, right? It's the thought that counts! hehe

haha kali that is pretty funny. I actually thought of the exact same movie that the comment above mine is talking about, The Thrill of It All, thats a good movie.

Pretty funny story. When I was a newlywed, and got a dishwasher...never had one before...I decided that I could save money by using liquid soap in the dishwasher instead of buying the actual "dishwasher" soap. Found out with the very first wash that WAS NOT a good idea. Yup, you guessed it, bubbles everywhere as they oozed out the door of the dishwasher. I'm a quick learner though, I NEVER did that again. ha, ha.

HI-LARIOUS. I hate doing dishes. I'm going to keep this in mind the next time I am asked to load the dishwasher. I seriously am.

hahaha that's too funny. I hate dishes. And always had to do them when I was growing up, since I am the oldest in the fam.

I squirted liquid dish soap in the soap pocket of our family dishwasher and it poured bubbles out for 20 minutes--even after we turned it off. It was filled up so full with bubbles there was nothing we could do to stop it. We sure didn't want to open it!

My mom kept wringing out the huge towels and then handing them back to me for floor duty. But at least she was laughing about it. It was pretty funny--kinda like "I Love Lucy" or something.

Ohhhh WOW!!! That would've been SOOO funny to see! :)

I'm NOT a fan of dishes either. I remember doing them at Hogi Yogi sometimes. Usually though, there was one guy that LOVED doing them because he would fill the whole sink up with as many bubbles as possible and just stay there ALL day and "wash dishes". :P

Totally done that before. Yep, still commenting on everything :)

I really did already read all of these but sometimes I am too lazy to comment.
