as promised, here is the little project i have been working on.
i still need about 10 more wine crates to finish it up, but since they are so hard to find, who knows when i will be done. so i figured i would just show you half of it. it's in the corner of my living room, so eventually i want it to feel up that corner, with basically two rows on each of the walls. that is why one side is all jagged and the other is even.
i love the jagged edge. it makes it feel more rustic to me. basically all i did was pull all the metal staples out and then stain the crates with a dark walnut stain. i really loved the stamped and engraved labels on the wood, so as soon as i painted a coat of stain on, i wiped it off so that you could still see the stamps through the stain.
then i stacked them up how i wanted them and my fabulous husband screwed them all together.
i'm in love with it.

You may not like knowing that the newspaper had an article stating that the local liquor stores are closing down. I think your crates may even be harder to find now my dear. What you've done so far is absolutely darling though. You are too creative.
Um... WHERE did you get that awesome owl?! I'm heading to Seattle, so if I remember I will try to pick up some wine crates for you!

It looks very nice. I am glad you did not wait until it was completely done....I was getting a bit anxious.
