and call my baby "helmet head"...
but if you do, i'll probably beat you up.
little miles has a flat head. a very, very flat head. you see, he was stuck inside me for so long, that his neck became accustomed to being turned to only one side. hence, he only slept on that side... leaving a big ol' flatness on the back side of his head. which also happened to be pushing his forehead forward on one side and it looked like someone knocked him in the head with something and left a big goose egg. we were referred to a plastic surgeon who told us this was a problem that would never fix itself. he would be stuck like this unless some action was taken. ultimately, the choice was up to us if we wanted to put our little baby through this. and we decided it would be better now, than later. i didn't want my 14 year boy to be self-concious through those horrible jr. high years. so for now, we must endure the torture. {we've been told the parents hate it more than the child. this is true.} miles had his head measured with a fancy camera and now gets to wear this beautiful contraption on his head for 22 hours a day.
p.s. my favorite was today when the neighbor walked past us and said hi, then did a double take and said, "OH MY GOSH! WHAT HAPPENED?!" is it really that alarming?

your dad told me about this the other day at work. poor little guy. he is still so adorable with or without the helmet. :)
I love his little helmet. He looks like he's ready to step up to the plate and swing! He's our little baseball guy :)
My sister and several of my friends had to have their babies wear a helmet! I have to agree that it is harder on the parents than the baby. He looks so cute in his little helmet! It is amazing what we would do for our children.
I personally think little boys look cute with their *helmet*! A dear friend's little boy wore one for a little while and his momma called him Little Slugger...saying he looked like he was up for bat. To this day when you ask his name he says, "Little Slugger!"
I think he looks adoreable!
I hope this helps... and that you guys all endure it well. ;)
Does he still favor one side or has he changed that?!?
I think he looks so cute with his helmet. Hang in there Mom and Dad you will be so glad you did this for Miles when it is all over...It is so Amazing what Doctors can do for us we live in a wonderful time with all the technology.
My cousin had to wear one of these lovely things as well...
It is a little horrible, but you get used to seeing it, and it helps round out the kiddos head!
Don't worry Kali, Miles is darling as ever!!!
He looks so cute!
And at least you have the good sense to put him in it if it is needed. I know some people who needed to put their kid in a helmet, and never did for fear of what he would look like. You are a good mommy. :-)
