back in the day, before i ever even existed,
mother and father were newlyweds and very poor.
like most newlyweds are.
and they had to find their own source of (cheap) entertainment.
which just so happened to be ms. pacman.
in an arcade.
and it only cost 25¢.
according to father, mother could last for hours on just one quarter.
he would often joke that mother was quite a cheap date.
but really, you should see the lady play.
she is very quick.
and could outsmart all the ghosts.
and eat all the fruits.
and still manage to come out alive.
believe me. i've seen her rack up the points.
and so i was once determined to play ms. pacman as good as my mother.
and i practiced a lot.
(only on a computer this time.)
and liked to brag that i was a ms. pacman superstar.
but that is a lie, because mother is the true superstar.
but i am 2nd place superstar ok?
superstar or not, thanks to my parents love story,
i truly love ms. pacman.

My brother (Matt) heard you talk about this once and he thought it was SO funny. On his Facebook page under quotes it says, "I am a pacman SUPERSTAR" - Kali Fisher

I still feel bad for your daddy who had to stand there and watch and be bored out of his mind when it was my turn to play. We would put two quarters in and when I would die and he took his turn it would only last about 30 seconds. Then he would stand there again bored to death watching me again.

This story proves a couple of things:
A) I wasted a LOT of time in front of that screen and,
B) I wasted a LOT of quarters thinking I would someday completely outwit those little dudes.

Thanks for a little jog down memory lane my dear :)

this is the only thing that I could think of to relate to this...I've never played Ms. Pacman. I kinda feel like I've been missing out on something. :)

I remember my friend had this game in basement and I loved playing it, but I was never good at it:(

My favourite yogurt costs 25 cents... well I think more like 39, but that's pretty much the same thing.

I remember going over to the Champlin's house and playing arcade games when I was younger. I think they even had a Ms. Pacman... but I don't remember so I am assuming that I wasn't very good at it if they did.

I love your mother's competitiveness. I just don't like competing against her - she's fast and very good. Auntie M.

I LOVE Pacman and Ms. Pacman, though I suck! Still fun to play!

Wow you have got some amazing talents! I stink at Pacman and Ms. Pacman. :) I'd love to see you and your mom compete sometime. ;)

Too fun! Rhen should battle out your on the Wii to see who could last the longest. That would be fun to watch :)

O.K., so I "think" I am really good at these kind of games. Truth is, I'm really not very good, especially when it comes to the younger generation. I use to pay the neighbor boys (Reece, Craig, etc.) to play me in Tetris because my own kids were sick of playing me. I told them if they beat I would give them a dollar. Needless to say, I lost a lot of money that summer. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Although I did LOVE the game "digger." I competed against an old friend all the time and it was 50/50 with who won. It was a huge waste of time but great fun!

We have Pacman on the Wii and I'm still not so good. The only video game that I can actually play is Dr. Mario. My sister and I used to be able to beat the kids. Once back when I was a writer I got caught up in a game with my sister and April, who was about 14 came in the room, put her hands on her hips and said in a stern voice, "Mother! Turn that off this minute. You have a book to write!" She was serious, but it was soooo funny.

That last Anonymous was me--I don't know why it came up that way. Sorry.

My husband and I are also addicted to Ms. Pacman. We have a little game console that connects to the tv. We are always trying to one up each other. Usually the loser has to do dishes or something lame like that :)

How awesome is that!!! I would love to watch you vs. your mom in Ms. Pacman!!! That's just too funny!!! I've played regular Pacman mostly... but I'm with Juli on the Tetris and Dr Mario scene!!! Count me in for the Dr Mario Tournament! ;)
