my senior year in high school, i had a nervous mental meltdown, which i like to call an identity crisis.
I was seriously so unhappy and so confused and I wanted a change. I hated my classes, I hated my school and the cliques and the fake people. So during the first week of class, I had a genius idea that was sure to change my life around. Within 2 hours, I had decided to transfer from Timpanogos, to Mountain View, received permissions from both schools, registered for classes, and officially became a student at a new school. MY SENIOR YEAR. uhhh, what was I thinking? Talk about a spur of the moment decision.
The next day, I went to approximately 1.5 classes when I got sick to my stomach and realized I had made such a stupid decision. I missed those classes, and my clean school and my friends and the "fake" people who really weren't that fake and I had another nervous mental meltdown and walked right out of the middle of a class and called my mom crying. She told me I better buck up and deal with it because I had gotten myself into this mess and she wasn't getting me out of it. Well I went straight back to Timpanogos and begged and pleaded to come back. I think my exact words to the counselor were, "I did a really stupid thing," through many tears and sobs and she whisked me away right back to her office, expecting to hear a lot worse than what I had done. :) She went through my old schedule and figured out exactly what I was hating so much and she got me into classes that were already full, classes that taught things I actually enjoyed,
classes that turned out to be my favorite.
(creative writing, AP photography, psychology).
And guess what? It turns out my high school really wasn't that bad. The grass is always greener... unless it's at Mountain View. (ha... sorry all my bruin friends. i still love you.)
oh and don't worry. I was only at Mountain View for 2 hours.
But it was just long enough to get my school pictures taken and wind up in their yearbook.
Long story short: I'm in two yearbooks.

Wow Kali, I never knew that! I hated that feeling when you made a huge decision and you know you made the wrong choice and you seem devastated and don't think you can ever get out of the mess. High school made it feel so much more dramatic anyways. I'm glad you were able to go back to Timpanogos and get better classes! Funny that you were in both yearbooks though:)
Kali I so remember this whole event! We were so glad when you decided to come back to Timp. We would have missed you. I love that you ended up in their yearbook. :) I made sure to stick you in ours. ;) I loved being on the yearbook staff. You should feel honored that they loved you so much during those 2 hours that they stuck you in theirs. :)
I love that cupcake picture of Miles. He is so dang cute.
I'm so happy you came back!
I pretty much just hated high school all together. I got senioritis like half way through my junior year... so I can definitely relate.
haha, at the beginning of this i felt like i was reading something i wrote. i transferred from timp to mt.view my senior year for the exact same reasons. i ended up staying there though even though all my friends at mt.view had dropped out. i was pretty much a loner at both schools, but i still in the end loved both of them the same :)
Go timberwolves! ha high school. I liked it the time, but boy is life out of high school SOO much better. I had no idea you went through this... I'm glad you ended up liking your classes in the end though. And that's really funny you ended up in two yearbooks.
I graduated early from high school. It meant I had to take one class during summer school, one class at the local collage during the first semester of my senior year. and I was DONE just after winter break. Best decision I ever made.
I had no idea! To be honest I really didn't like Timpanogos, sorry :)! I was much happier when I moved to Provo. I think its so important to be happy and sometimes you have to see the other side to appreciate what you have. Glad you were happy in the end, thats all that matters!
Better question.. did you get both yearbooks??? haha! I think changing schools is always hard no matter what age you are.. I went to three different elems... Change is hard! Glad you got everything fixed!
I hated high school - I went to Mountain View, BTW! That's so cool that you got in two yearbooks! Did you get both of them? You're so funny, coz, I love ya!
I think you are the cutest girl in the world... and I'm SOOO sorry you went through all of that! How great that things turned out sooo well!
I was registered for Mountain View until just a couple weeks before school started... and I still felt weird about the choice, so I switched to Timpanogos and I loved it! :)
I did the same thing. kinda. except I switched schools for a whole year.
you see, all through out high school i had an extremely controlling boyfriend. I went to Mountain View my sophomore year, but he chose to go to Orem High so he could play sports for them. Anyway, he decided that I needed to transfer to Orem for my junior year so "he could watch me" (seriously, I don't know what i was thinking or why i was in that terrible relationship for so long.)Anyway, we broke up towards the end of the school year, so I transferred back to Mountain View.
Moral of the story??
My Junior year was the worst year of my life.
Oh and the principal at Orem High was a lesbian. totally owned up to it, too. she had a huge rainbow flag on the wall in her office, and she and her "partner" would come to sporting events together with the baby they had adopted. not that i'm judging or anything, i just thought i'd throw that in there to make the story more interesting.
I had forgotten about that Kali, wow, that was hard. I am glad that you ended up happy. I think it had to do with a "choice" you made at that point. A choice to be happy if you could get back to Timpanogos. Funny the difference if the cup is half full or half empty:)
I remember when this happened. We were in Mrs. Jennnings math class together and one day you were gone...then you were back. Remember how we weren't even really friends then?! Crazy. Maybe if you would have known me then you would have liked high school more. Haha just kidding :)
I had the same temtation to go to Mt. View my sophmore year... glad I never went through with it. One Prom at Mountain View was enough for me.
I always wanted to go to MV too... and I remember when you switched and switched back. You had creative writing with me and I loved sitting next to you! We had some enjoyable times in that class!
That is too sad, but sort of fun that you were in both yearbooks! I had a harder time with my junior year, but I really liked the people I was meeting and the school in general. Don't know what the difference was, but it definitely felt different.
Whoa...that's a hard one. Good job getting all that figured out.
I went to school in LA until I was in High School and seriously, we were happy to get home without getting beat up.
I had an identity crisis that ended with me graduating early...ended up being the best decision I ever made.
