when i went to nyc for the first time, we went to 'top of the rock' which is an observation deck on top of the rockefeller center. I was determined take a cool picture of the city, but the stupid plastic windows surrounding us were making it quite difficult. It was also getting dark and I needed a flat surface to use as a tripod. There were tiny slots in the windows though, and i got a genius idea. My camera wouldn't fit through, but if i took the lens off, it would. so I disassembled my beautiful, expensive, love-of-my-life camera, stuck it through the slots, and re-assembled it on the other side of the windows, with my arms all twisted and crazy, and set it on the cement edge...
Yes, 70 floors up and 850 feet above ground. not to mention the wind...
I know it was crazy, but I like to think that
it was worth it.

oh, the things we will do for a good shot.
*I honestly can't think of anything that insane that I have done with my camera. I fear ever even taking the lense off for the sake of dust. There have been one two many black specks on my pictures to repeat that mistake. Although, I have never been to New York so I am sure I just haven't had the proper motive yet. ;)
BEAUTIFUL!!! i love NYC
Amazing pictures! I would have dropped it. Or at least Bryant would have been very angry with me :)
Those pictures are GORGEOUS! When we went to New York it was for a cruise so we only got to stay there for a couple of days...but I LOVED it! While we were on the ship leaving the port I wanted to get an awesome picture of the Statue of Liberty so I held my camera over our balcony to get a great shot! I was so scared that I would accidentally drop my camera in the water! I didn't and I got a great shot!
Kali you are an amazing photographer! Those pictures are stunning. I don't have a nice camera so I've never had to take off a lens, but when I was in Paris on the Eiffel Tower the wires they had were messing up my pictures so I stuck my camera through them, scared me half to death. I can't imagine doing it with a camera as nice as yours :D
Wow, those pictures are absolutely beautiful! I'd be too afraid of losing something to do that, bold move! You're so talented at photography!
You have amazing skills.. I always love your pictures!
Beautiful pictures, and well worth the risk:) I love nyc, I want to go back!
Oh, so worth it. Those pics are awesome. I have a picture that Neal and I took when we were in NYC and it has the twin towers in it. Although it is not anything like the pics you have here, that are breath taking, I do have it. Never thought those would be gone one day!!!
I've never been to NYC, but I've always wanted to go. Those are some gorgeous pictures.
I have never been there! That is one place I would love to go. Good pictures!

I got my very first "real" camera a year and a half ago when I started my blog. I'm 51 years old and I haven't had a camera of my own since I was about 10. It's only a point and shoot, but finally I don't have to tell anyone to take a picture for me. Wow, I'm finally a grown-up.
GREAT job on the photos... they turned out awesome!!! :)
I've been to NY twice now. The first time was on tour and we went to the top of the Empire State Building and I tried to get some shots of other different buildings around the city. I have a shot of the Twin Towers... and I'm SOOO glad that I do... since the next time I went... that shot could not be duplicated. :(
Very nice! I didn't go to the top of any of the buildings when I was in NYC. The babies were a little sick of site-seeing so we opted for a food break instead.
Amazing! You are a great photographer. I have never been to NYC but have always wanted to go. Maybe someday...
