In junior high, I was a perfectionist and obsessed with getting straight A's.  I kept a 4.0 until 9th grade when I got an A- in world studies.  I cried to my teacher and she changed it to an A.
(then I got another A- my first term in high school in photography...of all classes. and I learned that crying doesn't get you good grades. ha.)

I'm so impressed. 4.0 !!!? WOW.
Can't really relate to the straight A's myself, but I married and perfectionist and now raising a couple perfectionists....and it's HARD! There is a lot of frustration involved with homework when you're a perfectionist!

First off, love your giveaway idea, so here I am Next, that's so funny...my first grade that was less than an A was in a typing class my sophomore year...and I did exactly what you did...cried to my teacher to change it to an A. But he didn't change it. And I was SO mad about it! :) But I've forgiven him by now and am just happy that I actually learned how to type in that class.

I used to think I was pretty smart in HS. I graduated with a 3.9. And then I came to BYU... My first grade below an A- was when I got a C during my first semester :) Whoops.

I was SO not like that in HS but my perfectionist husband was and still is. He pulled a 3.9 on his bachelors degree and plans to DO BETTER on his masters. Do better? Who worries about doing better than a 3.9? Oh...you and Ty do. :)

Kali, I like your fun giveaway:) It gives me something to do everyday! I was definitely not a perfectionist with my grades, I was happy to get at least a B, its still above average right?

I was also a perfectionist in school until reality hit in a BYU freshman English class. Our teacher was explaining how word definitions change throughout time. His example was the word "awful." He said that 50 years ago if someone said President Lyndon B. Johnson (before your time) was an awful President it would have been a compliment. Without thinking, I muttered that it would be a compliment today. He overheard me and gave me a D+ for the class even though my grades averaged an A-. Turns out he was a diehard LBJ fan. I talked to him about the grade and he told me that he was going to force me to re-take the English class to teach me a lesson. I never re-took the class and that stupid D+ was still on my transcripts when I graduated. From your stubborn Auntie M.

I wasn't a perfectionist. But I still got pretty decent grades.

Never been obsessed with good grades... I had the great attitude of "as long as I pass." Although, I am a perfectionist in other areas, yet still my attitude is a reflection of laziness; "if it ain't perfect I'd rather not do it at all."

And whhaaat? you got an A- in photography? Mrs. Thomas obviously didn't see the talent there.

I married a perfectionist.... I on the other hand did/do just enough to get by.. but I hope to learn a little something from my husband! :)

I didn't care too much about my grades in high school. I wish I had a bit more. But I did argue with a few teachers in college for better grades - no crying, and it didn't always work but sometimes it did.

Love this idea!! I definitely talked my way up to an A a few times in high school. And in Mrs. Thomas' class she made me work for it. I had to organize the file cabinets by her desk and let me tell you...she is not a very neat person.

What a cute idea Kali! I am going to try to participate as much as I can ;) I was pretty obsessed with getting good grades too. I always wanted to get a 4.0, although I usually ended up with a 3.9.
So I haven't been very good at reading blogs/staying updated since the holidays started so I'm not sure when you changed your layout... but I love it! So fresh and classy.

My world history teacher in 10th grade has my same birthday. That connects right?

i got a 4.0 ONE time in 9th grade. that's it. just once.

Haha Kali you know that being a perfectionist with grades is totally me! My first grade lover than an A was my fourth semester of college. I got an A- and tried convincing my professor to change it to no avail. :)

I was never content with anything less than an A, until my last trimester my senior year...that's when I decided it was okay to live a little & have a life other than homework. Better late than never, right?! :)

The idea of getting a 4.0, or I guess the knowledge that I was capable of it, didn't hit me until I had 3 semesters left at BYU. I tried my hardest and totally would have done it at least once, if it weren't for my last English GE! The teacher was a masters student waiting to get into school for his Ph.D. and said we had to be worthy of being published in a student journal to get an A on our papers. I'm sure it was just because he was short. Jerk gave me a B+ and I got a 3.85.

Just had to play. O.K. , I went to Jr. High also, Same one as you did believe it or not and well, the whole world would have died if I would have cared at all about my grades. Too much interest in everything else, having way too much fun and well, probably just darn lazy!!!

I never got a 4.0. Ever. And I didn't care to until I was a senior. What's the point then huh? Now I am obsessed though. I have a really hard time not getting A's in my college classes. (Not that I am in college right now, but I was and still have some more to go, which is why I speak in present tense.) :)

Kali... you are too cute! I'm with everyone else and think this is SUCH a fun idea!!! :) I'm going to post on my blog finally too!!! *:D* Now for my connection...

I'm pretty sure I only got ONE 4.0 in High School. I was pretty excited about it... but I was wAAAy more excited about getting a 4.0 one of the semesters I was at UVSC (aka UVU). That made me pretty happy! :)

My connection is I'm your mama and I hope I had some influence on your desire to get good grades :)

I was actually NOT a perfectionist in junior high and was quite content with B's. I went to school in Watts, California and sincerely just concentrated on getting home alive. It was a ridiculous, rough place to grow up.

Let's see. I don't think I was ever a perfectionist in school. However, one semester I got all A's and one B+ and was totally mad because that semester I thought I'd have my first 4.0. Way not cool. Anyway, how are you? I love reading your blog and seeing your cute family. Thanks for reading my blog. As you can see, I have a total of 4 readers. haha.

Maybe it's something about 9th grade, because that was my first almost A- too... only I felt very justified in getting it adjusted though because my teacher left on maternity leave, but didn't upgrade the grade book. Finally the other teach went in at the end of the school year and changed it. Phew!

Even though I had varied grades throughout high school, I remember that my very last term at THS I had a 4.0... but then my facilitator teacher for an EdNet ASL class died so the grades were never updated. They turned them in as is. I cried. I wanted to end on a good note, but got to go to a funeral for a good person and mourn for my grade at the same time.

okay lets see... I took photography and some how got an A, how I got an A and you didn't is beyond me! And another way I can relate is that I got a 4.0 two times in high school the rest of time time I got a 3.9 or a 3.8ish. love and miss ya Kali, give Miles a hug and kiss from me!

I got straight A's in high school except AP Biology and it was the only time I saw my dad talk to the teacher to see if he could change it!!

I talked my way out of a B+ to an A in High School. I just remember walking out of there thinking "I can't believe she just did that." Awesome.
